is one of Canada’s premiere cultural ambassadors and carnival bands that support our communities and its ever changing landscape. LUX is also Canada’s first Caribbean carnival band to feature and highlight kids with special needs. We believe that children with disabilities, whether physical, cognitive, emotional, or behavioral, should be able to celebrate their culture and that message resonated with many who didn’t see their kids represented. For our advocacy work, we are proud to have been recognized and nominated for the Small Business of the Year Award by The CanadianSME Small Business Magazine.
We’ve organized and participated in highly successful events and corporate initiatives to achieve our mission, including cultural festivals, heritage preservation projects, educational workshops, and community outreach programs. One such world-class cultural festival is the Toronto Caribbean Carnival. Inscribed as a Cultural Heritage Property by the Canadian Commission for Unesco, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival is recognized for its international importance and contribution to cultural diversity with over 2 million attendees annually.
As color symbolizes carnival, it also symbolizes awareness of those with special needs and disabilities. We aim to inspire, motivate, and create a safe space for every child to celebrate their culture and heritage in the Toronto Caribbean Carnival. What began as a passion project six years ago, has turned into an audacious goal to build a carnival band, dedicated to fostering cross-cultural understanding, promoting inclusivity including those with special needs, and preserving the unique customs, art, and rich history of the Caribbean and its diverse communities. Welcome to LUX Carnival.
Our mission is to pull from the rich and colorful tapestry of our Caribbean culture and traditions to create an impactful experience while raising awareness for kids with disabilities, thanks to our sponsors and partners.
